Prof. Dr. Nasreen ALFARIS

Dr. Alfaris is an Endocrinologist and Obesity Medicine specialist. Dr. Alfaris’s clinical and research experience expands to cover multidisciplinary treatment of obesity and its complications, weight regain after bariatric surgery, and patients who fail to lose adequate weight after bariatric surgery. She also serves as a faculty member at the Blackburn Course in Obesity Medicine at Harvard Medical School helping to educate healthcare professionals about obesity management.
During her career, Dr. Alfaris has received multiple awards. The most recent was the Master in Integrated Health Award from the International Federation for Surgery for Obesity (IFSO). She has authored papers and editorials in the several journals including New England Journal of Medicine, International Journal of Obesity, The Lancet, and Obesity.  Currently, Dr. Alfaris is working with the Ministry of Health in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia on creating pathways for obesity management in the Kingdom. She also works with the Saudi Center for Disease Prevention and Control on strategies to prevent obesity in the Kingdom. 
 On a regional level, Dr. Alfaris is the Chair of the IFSO-MENAC Integrated Health Section. She is also the past Co-Chair and now an active member of the World Obesity Federation’s Gulf and Lebanon Steering Committee. Clinically, Dr.Alfaris works at King Fahad Medical City‘s Obesity, Endocrine, and Metabolism Center. She continues to practice endocrinology, diabetes, and obesity medicine in this tertiary care center In addition to her research work in obesity and its complications.
